The Chunky Chair is, as the name implies, a chair, based on the idea of
taking a two-dimensional image and realizing it into a three-dimensional
object. The physical laws
of nature, such as gravity and properties of materials, are not needed when a shape is
created digitally or on paper. This chair was designed by focusing on an image
of a curved and flexible object, with material and texture added at the last
minute. It aims to resemble the idea that it is pulled out of an animation into
the real world. This is not a render, miniature or scale model, but a tangible object, see coffee cup for scale. Made from 6 & 8 cm steam bend oak, finished with bronze
screws.
